This song from the Broadway production "Chess" is beautiful in itself but was taken to the level of perfection when it was performed by Lea Salonga during her Broadway Concert in 2001.

  • The song is one of my favorites ... touching and poignant; a genuine slice of real life. Lea Salonga's version does Webber's lyrics and melody great justice. Thank you

  • yah, this isn't a webber... ehhehe!... though she does sing a lot of webber's songs... but this just isn't one of them... thanks for the comment, though... 'ppreciate it much...

  • @bonbonquest This is from the broadway version of Chess by Tim Rice and the 2 guys from ABBA - Bjorn Ulvaeus and Benny Anderson.

  • @tjbedista yep. I do know that. :) Cheers...

  • why not post all her songs from this concert?

  • she'd probably get mad at me if i do that... heheheh!... i want to, though... but the best thing to do is to order a copy of the DVD online... you can't find it in stores these anymore... they're collectors' items...

  • And he could be in mine I don't see A reason to be lonely I could take my chances Further down the line And if That girl I knew should ask my advice Oh I wouldn't hesitate she needn't ask me twice Go now! I'd tell her that for free Trouble is, the girl is me The story is, the girl is me.
  • Sadly She realized she'd left him behind And sadder than that she knew he wouldn't even mind And though there's nothing left to say Would he listen if I stay? It's all very well to say you fool it's now or never I could be choosing No choices whatsoever. I could be In someone else's story In someone else's life

  • Absolutely love Lea singing this song... just amazing.

  • @bobhnewyork The lyrics were written by Tim Rice, who frequently worked with Webber, so you weren't too far off ;)

  • Love her vibrato -- and her ability to carry the emotions across even if she's not performing on a Broadway stage in constume and in character. Such a telented lady!

  • @bonbonquest: Great video. Thanks for posting!

  • What I like about Salonga is that in addition to her powerful and very beautiful voice, shen sings, she tells a story. There's always something beneath the surface. Her singing touches you. So much unlike HelenWho?(TM) and JudyWho?(TM). You guys are so funny, @aaprato and @mdiamse!

  • @aaprato: Lol! HelenWho?(TM) has a voice that sounds too old for this role, while JudyWho?(TM) with the screechy voice is overly operatic in her singing. So annoying to listen to.

  • @woaini9292: Yes. Kingmarshmusic has no ear, too.

  • mdiamse: LOL! Like Helen Who and Judy Who?
