HONORING ACTRESS HATTIE WINSTON WITH THE LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD & HOLLYWOOD'S MOST TALENTED MAKEUP AND HAIR STYLIST IN TELEVISION & FILM
Hollywood, CA) ~ The Black Hollywood Education and Resource Center ("BHERC") is pleased to announce A Great Day in Black Hollywood, a tradition of recognizing the talents and contributions of unsung heroes in the Entertainment Field, scheduled for October 21, 2011, at the Los Angeles Center Studios, 1201 W. 5th St., Los Angeles, CA 90017, the award show begins at 8:00 p.m. and tickets for opening night is $50.
BHERC will honor actress Hattie Winston (Primetime series Becker ) with The Lifetime Achievement Award & Hollywood's Most Talented Makeup and Hair Stylist in Television and Film including: Julia L. Walker, Kenneth Walker, Erma Kent, Paulette Lewis-Irwin, Joann Stafford-Chaney, Kimberly Kimble, LaLette Littlejohn, Geneva Morgan, Stacye Branche, Wynona Price-Gatlin, Joanetta Stowers, and Phyllis Williams.
The S.E. Manly Short Film Showcase will showcase the artistry of emerging African American Filmmakers for two-days by screening short films on both October 22 and 23, 2011, at Raleigh Studios, Chaplain Theatre, 5300 Melrose Avenue, Hollywood, California. Screenings will include blocks of short films and will begin at 10:00 a.m. allowing an extensive Q&A with directors, cast and crew and closing with a Reception and Networking at the end of each evening. BHERC was formed in 1996 as a non-profit organization designed to advocate, educate, research, develop and preserve the history, as well as the future of Blacks in film and television. BHERC produces, organizes and funds diverse cultural art, film and theater projects in order to capitalize on our rich foundation established in Hollywood. We not only promote more African Americans as artists, but have begun a "New Era" in the documentation of African American images.
Opening Night Tickets can be purchased via pay-pal at www.bherc.org, or by mailing in a check or money order to the BHERC address above (mailing deadline October 5th). Tickets for the Film Festival are $15 for a block of films, $30 for a Day Pass, and $100 for the weekend. There is street parking and lot parking is $5 per day.
