Most all people love a great a foot massage. It is a gentle, non-invasive way that relaxes the body and mind. And since most of us are always "on our feet" throughout the day, it is especially pleasurable to give some attention to this area of our body.

But, did you know that the feet contain thousands of nerve endings which correspond to every organ and part of the body? Yes, that's right, each part of the foot has its relative reflex point. By working these points you stimulate energy through nerve pathways to the specific corresponding regions. This facilitates the break down any build up of tension in these areas, helping the body to relax and heal any imbalance. So, for example, working the inner edge of the foot from top to bottom is relative to working down the spine from the neck to the lower back. This form of therapy was first introduced to the West in the 1930's by Eunice Ingham, who refined ancient Egyptian and Chinese reflexology into this specific system.
