"Today, I will meet with President Tadic and then I will have the opportunity to commend him for what he did to get the initiative that it took to pass the resolution (declaration) in the Parliament about Srebrenica. It was a very, very, important step in order to achieve reconciliation in this region and of course on all his efforts to create better relations with neighbours. All in all, one can say that Serbia is now a source of stability in this region, while this country in the past was a source of instability. Therefore, we appreciate very much that we can work so closely with Serbia".
CoE SG Thørbjorn Jagland speaking to Serbian media in Belgrade on April 14, 2010. This is Jagland's first visit to Serbia since his election as Secretary General of the Council of Europe in October 2009.
