@HBKDXHHH100 Cataclysm will be a permanent addition to the game, there is no addon to buy, unlike the Burning Crusades or Wrath of the Lich King. The monthly is about $15, and you get a free month of play time when purchasing the game. Hope this helped

You should buy the first game because It's only something like $12, plus you get a free month of playtime. The next expansion, The Burning Crusade, is around the same price but you won't need that for a while yet. Don't worry about missing out on things, just play the game at you're own pace and you'll enjoy it ALOT more than most end game players. Just a tip, don't rush through wow. It's an amazing game with breathtaking scenery and quest lines, but the majority of players don't see this.
