the reason he didn't open the door is because you accidently messed up the scripted sequence. if you look closely you see him fold his arms which was part of the script but then you pressed the use key on him and he didn't open the door

You need to either go up or down. I dont remember what it was but one of the areas has two gargs.

or since i prerecorded 3 videos ahead i did the lazy thing and noclipped through and spawned another scientist.

Try bringing the scientist to the other gate. I have a feeling that's where he goes.

I DIDN'T MAKE THE ROUTE REQUEST OBVIOUS. Sorry. I think its the next elevator where you can take it up or down. I dont remember which one it was but try to look for the map with the gargs in it.
