Covenant of Mayors - Moura

Moura, is a municipality in the county of Beja, region of the lower Alentejo. The municipality is divided in in 8 civil parishes. The fight against unemployment and the resulting economic difficulties make Moura an example to follow. The weaknesses have been transformed into strengths a lot due to the tireless work of the Mayor José Maria Pós-de-Mina, recently considered Mayor of the Future by the North American magazine One World. The commitment to human rights, fair distribution of economic and natural resources and the promotion of sustainable livelihoods were some of the justifications for the prize. In a location where solar radiation is extraordinary high, is where the largest Photovoltaic power central ever built is located, and therefore the signing of the Covenant of Mayors came naturally
