I was watching the James Galway masterclass and was trying to do it and it wasn't really working out.

I tried to give different angles of my embouchure so if anyone wants to give advice they might be able to see my problem.

thanx

ps. this is my 2nd week of playing.

  • Hey man, Make sure that the tone hole is on the head joint is facing straight up. Don't roll it in towards your body. The hole in your lips (aperture) looks really good. Not too big, about the size and shape of a grain of rice. To change octaves, get a nice "low" tone first. Once you can get that nice clear (not windy) tone, then gradually push your bottom lip forwards. You don't have to change your air or anything else. Just push your bottom lip out. The higher you play the farther out

  • Cool, thanks. I really appreciate it.

  • playing flute take too much practice.. but i love it

  • hey man u shouldnt b trying to play high in ur second week. If you do get them they will not b of good quality. You should master the first octave ie. low G to low C/B before trying to get the higher 1. If u do this then u will develop a much better tone and sound.

  • if u want to make high notes, blow fast air into it but not much in the flute, low notes you have to think about making your mouth tall..

  • For me, I start the high notes with my lips almost completely closed, like I basically use air to push them open, if that makes any sense. This way, you can play softer. Also start your note by saying "too, too". That will put your tongue in the correct position. I couldn't tell by the video if that's what you were doing.
