One of the nicest hits of the late 60's came from The New Colony Six. Chicago's New Colony Six originally emerged as a tough, British Invasion-styled outfit prominently featuring Farfisa organ and a novel (at the time) Lesley guitar. Scoring a huge local hit with "I Confess," their early recordings -- exemplified by their 1966 debut album, Breakthrough -- featured first-class original material that gave the sound of Them and the Yardbirds a more commercial, American... • You don't have to be from Chicago to know about these wonderful artists. What a great song, sang with passion. They had a couple really great hits. Maybe they weren't hits on the charts but they sure are in my book. In fact, I am beginning to hate oldies stations that stay focused on songs that hit the top 40 when many of the groups had fantastic songs that did not chart for one reason or another. Sometimes these other songs are better than the ones that did chart.

  • I was in about 4th or 5th grade when this Fantastic song came out! It's a shame they can't write great music like any more, when the words and melody meant so much! Thanks for the great memories!

  • Oh my gosh! I came across this song rather accidentally. I played it and realized it was a great song from my childhood!!! It's so fantastic to discover some of these great older songs that I forgot about or briefly think about and wonder who did that song and what's the name, etc. And for a post 2 weeks ago, it's Waukegan. :-)

  • Found a tape of WJMK from years ago, this song was on it. Completely forgot about this gem.

  • Another great one! This group was unfortunate because they sang good songs; had nice harmony. Then the Beatles arrived and we lost all these neat groups. Too bad.

  • i remember seeing them in Wakegan (sp) when i was a senior at deerfield h s at some place called blue something

  • Bravo--i've never heard horns that joined, in the harmony of these singers, like in this song.

  • I'm from Chicago and I loved them

  • Used to be my favorite song, I would play this over and over.

  • If only the songs today portrayed a quarter of this kind of real passion... Thank you for posting..

  • Thanks to you posting this I have discovered this great band! Thank you! I agree with maruce99, the radio stations stick to the top songs - but those of us who care don't mind going "trawling" for great music while generous people post favourites on Youtube.

  • Thank you for posting . I love hearing sweet beautiful music like this !
