She crushes every role she sings, from Evita to Mrs. Lovett. Viva LuPone!

Stunning!! Patti truly captures the desperation & the madness better than any of the other Norma's.

Perfect, but for me the defintive performance belongs to Barbra

I'm delighted that ever since Sunset and Patti refusing to sing his music again, she's gone through a golden period of her career with astonishing performances as she worked her way through the Sondheim repertoire and received every single theatrical award for Gypsy on Broadway. Go Patti!

I love Betty Buckley as Norma...I saw all of t hem and my fave is Betty...Patti and Glenn have such powerful command of their voices as well, however..I just happen to Like Betty :)
-
... oh, and I found out that LuPone and other actresses have dressed the same way Glenn has for her Tony Awards performance n_n

I think this'll explain why I mainly thought the way I did about LuPone - Patti LuPone - As If We Never Said Goodbye By Username: katemuffinn. LuPone's actually extremely good o.o I've seen a couple more of her performances :') I understand what you're saying NeuwirthFan (Glenn=Movie Star, LuPone=Theatre Actress) =) I didn't look at the bigger picture of LuPone's whole career -.-

@SuperMonahan If you look at my first post, you can clearly see that I'm expressing my thoughts against the other people's comments so if you don't agree with it, please don't interfere with it or simply say "I don't agree with it" without making this a youtube fight which wasted (and keeps on wasting) both of our times. You prefer Close and I prefer LuPone, that is it.

@NeuwirthFan This is just plain silly at this point. I have plenty of respect for what other people think. You're the one who has proven incapable of dialogue, and incapable of seeing any other point of view. I've tried to sanely communicate the reasons why YOUR attack of another user was uncalled for, and why someone might prefer Glenn Close to Patti LuPone. You've spewed nonsense and then tried to claim the higher ground. Look at your first post and then apply your words to yourself.
-
@SuperMonahan Have you ever thought that you have no respect for what people think? You don't know everything and what you say is not always true, please remember that. Have some respect and try to understand what people think. What you're doing IS rude not mine, I'm not some random person who doesn't know a thing about acting and theater so try to look at things at another prespective.

@NeuwirthFan Don't why you took criticism to Ms. LuPone's performance to be rude. Get a thicker skin. Patti certainly has one.
this had to have been before or during her run because i highly doubt she'd do this after that ehole debacle.

@dudewheresmydignity this was taped around 2001, way after her run and way after the show closed on b'way. i've seen her do this show several times and it's he only song she does from sunset
