  • i read somewhere that he could press 230.. that means he's strong as hell...

  • I think some of the figures are a bit touch and go. Alexieev holds the "sort of Press" world record with 236.5 and did 240 in training, but strict press I doubt more than 200. I'm not sure weather Tarenenko was lifting when they had the press (or not at his prime) so i can't say but for a real press, i would say around the 160-175 mark, 230 sounds a little high

  • watched this after watching the the "World Record" 263.5kg lift by Rezazadeh. How is this not the world record, they both way off being effected by the change in weight class so why would that matter?!

  • I totally agree, it's a really stupid Idea, but I think it's partly to encourage, as well as other reasons why the weight classes were re-done, I wont go into that, but for reasons I cant say as well as just the fact they were that good I think some of the records were just considered "unbreakable"... its almost for coaches and athletes to proove themselve when they get a "world record".

  • this guy looks rpetty short, but obviously hes gotta weigh a ton to lift that.

  • he weighs about 150 kgs I think

Not sure things are all that different today are they?

  • he was obviously drugged up to the stones like all lifters of that era, nothing from those times are real records

  • @mikeyburger1 he hadnt even started lifting when the press got dropped, that was 1972.

  • @mikeyburger1 he said it was in training along with a front squat triple @300
