Margot Fonteyn Robert Helpmann 'Giselle' 1937

This is a little footage of Margot Fonteyn and Robert Helpmann in Act 1 of 'Giselle' in 1937 at the Vic-Wells Ballet, later the Sadlers Wells Ballet (1939, and finally the Royal Ballet (1956).

First there Fonteyn dancing a solo and then there is a pas de deux with Helpmann.

Music has been added to this silent film. The tempi of the music and the dance speeds unnaturally up in the pas de deux.

hi pediatrapaola - i think the pianist who added the accompniment to the filent film sounds a bit crazy when the speed of the film is not natural - merry melodies indeed!
