Here are a few clips of the Bournemouth Surf Reef being used by body boarders one day after the official press launch. It possible to see already that the reef is working, and according to surfing experts, as nature takes it's course and sand finds it's level, the waves should smooth out and improve even more.
The reef depends entirely on weather conditions, as with any surf.
We're all looking forward to seeing how it develops with time, as this is not an exact science.
Hope this dispels some of the recent myths.

  • Well still a long way to go, but it's good that new ideas are being tried. I hope the one in Cascais - Portugal, can go ahead as well as planned.

  • it's still early days. let's hope they can get this place really pumping.

  • Yea pumpin..... think ill stick to the witterings........think that reef could of done with being a lot bigger!!!

  • Nowhere near as good as expected.

  • I am sure once the sand moves about and does its thing it'll improve but how busy is it going to be on the VERY small number of days it works? Look how busy it is with spongers on a rubbish day like that!
