This is an antiwar song.
The original song was by The Boom (Kazufumi Miyazawa) in 1992.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n7ggJquImms

This title "Shima Uta (=island song)" means originally a generic name of the folk song in Okinawa. Okinawa (& a group of Okinawan islands) is a southern island of Japan. Okinawan folk song has an unique musical scale called "Okinawan musical scale". It doesn't have 'D & A' (in other words, it has 'C, E, F, G, B, C ...')
So this song has also Okinawan musical scale (but a part of it is just a normal musical scale).

The original Kaito version was made by 涼之介P (Ryounosuke P) in NicoNicoDouga. But it was already deleted, the other version is here

I'm not an author. and to my regret, I cannot speak Arabic. I just translated Japanese lyric into English and added Arabic sub to this video.
Arabic lyric was translated by thedarkofthebleeding-san.
Thanks for your efforts, thedarkofthebleeding san^_^

note : about Kanji & Romaji lyrics
1. the double vowel "ou" is often pronounced as "oo" or a long vowel of "o".

2. the double vowel "ei" is sometimes pronounced as "ee", so a word "deigo" needs to be pronounced as "deego".

3. Actually, This song has two types of Japanese lyrics. The one is an official Japanese version, the other one is an Okinawan dialect version. (Of course these two types of this song were sold officially)
In this video, Kanji lyrics are written in official Japanese language. But in a part of this song, Kaito uses Okinawan dialect, so I wrote a part of Romaji lyrics as Okinawan dialect.
In other words, Kaito pronounces an official Japanese word "の (no)" as "ぬ (nu)" in Okinawan dialect.Therfore, there are some differences between Kanji lyrics and Ronaji one.

English lryics
[island song]

The deigo flower bloomed,
(and the deigo flower) called the wind, and now the storm arrived.

The deigo flower were blooming in profusion,
(and the deigo flower) called the wind, and now the storm arrived.

The repeated sadness is
like the waves which go across between islands

In the forest of Uuji, I met you
(And) under the Uuji (/ the Uuji tree), eternal goodbye.

Island song, ride the wind,
(and) cross the seas with the birds
Island song, ride the wind,
(and please) send along my tears

The deigo flowers scattered (and died),
and now only the small waves sway

The small happiness is
like a flower of the bubbly waves

In the Uuji forest, my friend who sang with me,
(And) under the Uuji (/the Uuji tree), eternal parting

Island song, ride the wind,
(and) cross the seas with the birds
Island song, ride the wind,
(and please) send along my love

the sea, universe, God, life,
Please keep an evening calm being forever

Island song, ride the wind,
(and) cross the seas with the birds
Island song, ride the wind,
(and please) send along my love

Island song, ride the wind,
(and) cross the seas with the birds
Island song, ride the wind,
(and please) send along my love

[why is this an antiwar song ?]

・The deigo is called
"this flower brings storm" in Okinawa

・storm = army, the flames of war

・Uuji = sugarcane in Okinawan dialect
→Under the Uuji = "in an air‐raid shelter under the sugercane field"
→"Under the Uuji, eternal goodbye" means .........

  • @Z666ful

If you can translate english lyric into bahasa malaysia, I'll be able to add bahasa malaysia subtitles on this video :D

  • *dies

    <3

check out the matsuri dance version *-*

  • @AnimeFanGirl6 Thank you for watching :D

I've watched the matsuri dance version, a little while ago. Where was this dance worked out? At least I cannot think it's made in my country Japan.

They look like cheerful dances :D (but this song is originally an anti-war song, so it's a little wondering, I think)

  • It´s in brazil, the events that I go to have "matsuri dance",there are a lot of songs and it´s great cause it´s just some repeating moves that go along with the song so even if you dont know you can get the hang of it really quick.I think there must exist in other places too but I´ve never heard about it D: About the song I have no idea ;;" the one they use is a diferent version but with the same lyrics, don´t know where it came from D:-sorry for my bad english

  • Thanks for your reply (and your english is easy to understand for me):D

Oh, It's a brazilian style. My country is the far side of Blazil, but there are many immigrants from Japan. Nice to meet you ^_^

I guess "matsuri dance" results from Japanese classic dance "Bon odori (Bon dance)". This is usually danced at summer festival in every area of Japan.

    watch?v=JFIVxyWc2sU

  • "Matsuri" means "festival" in Japanese language. So, "Shima Uta matsuri dance version" looks like a modern "Bon dance" style :D I think it's so good Blazilian culture.

Excuse me , but If you can translate my broken english "Shima Uta" lyrics into Portuguese, I'll make it.

  • مشكور ترجمة رائعة

  • @Jupitroid Shima Uta (島唄 Island Song?) is a 1992 song by the Japanese band The Boom. It was written by the lead singer, Kazufumi Miyazawa, based on his impressions from visiting Okinawa for a photo shoot.

  • I... I don't really like vocaloid songs, but Shima Uta is one of my all-time favorites.

This was not only acceptable, but completely awesome. Faved and liked. So hard.

  • :D cute <3

  • hey..nice outfit

  • I remember reading that this song was probably written in Okinawa in the late 1940s. I think it's considered a traditional song even though it's not really very old. It's a very beautiful song. It's amazing that it was the official song of the FIFA World Cup 2002 and that Argentinians fell in love with it (thanks to singer Alfredo Caseros).

  • @DecadenceTea i will try but thanks man!

  • lol Alfredo Caseros. xDD
