I have another tape at home where he plays a solo on "Sweet Georgia Brown," modulating through all 12 keys without switching harps. It's remarkable. Yeah, the solos in a few of the positions are pretty "outside" but he is playing in key, on pitch through the whole thing.
Howard is widely viewed as the best that ever lived. In the `70's I took lessons from him for a year - he is an amazing person on many levels, and an astonishing multi-instrumentalist, playing piano, mandolin, sax, steel drum and stuff I've never even heard of.
