Airing Monday, November 2, 9-10 pm ET (check local listings) http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/americanexperience/ccc What is the role of government in our lives? Does the environment play a role in economic recovery? How do we deal with our faltering economy? American Experience presents a 5-part series that examines the nations response to the unprecedented economic crisis, high unemployment, and environmental catastrophe that threatened the nation during one of historys most tumultuous decades, The 1930s. The second film looks at the creation of the Civilian Conservation Corps, one of the boldest and most popular New Deal experiments, and a pivotal moment in the emergence of modern environmentalism and federal unemployment relief.

  • How can you take an economic cesspool and profit from it in an ethical and moral way? Lets think outside of the box!

  • friend of mines uncle was part of this. He told me he loved it cause hed been unemployed for years and suddenly he had work, money,(not much but an income at least) and food on the table on a regular basis. something a lot of us just take for granted now.

  • thanks for this wonderful video

  • What we need today is another FDR.

  • I remember the Depression and the Dirty 30s. I believe we're headed to another Depression, I hope without the dust this time.

  • I myself lived through the Great Depression, and it was quite the unusual period in our country's history, one in which I see many parallels with today's current economic situation.

Please take a look at my channel, I think you'd really enjoy it. I have clips from a documentary about the Depression and the 1930's that I produced called "The Thirties and the Greatest Generation."

Thanks for taking the time to spread the word about our Great American History.

"'Sakes! Imagine... a generation that grew up with computers waiting to do their bidding, and learning internet protocols before they learned their A B C's... having to possibly turn earth with shovels. Manual labor for college grads. That'd be a socially-trying time."

Hear hear! Well-said! Let me add: "Everything old is new again." ...Unfortunately, in this case, eh? We are so screwed.
