" Dont Let Me Go ".....a tender ballad, is taken from the Susan "Falling in Love Again" album on RCA Records in 1979.
The Susan album is filled with catchy, well written & well sung melodic rock / pop / power pop songs that were typical of the day & its sad that the Susan album didnt catch on.
I dont remember seeing anything written or promoted by RCA Records in the music press etc...I think RCA just put it out there.
Susan was managed by one of the music industry's top managers at the time...Tommy Mottola & Champion Entertainment ( Hall & Oates ) & their album was produced by...Frank Aversa & Mike Ricciardella ( the Illusion,,Barnaby Bye,,Alessi Brothers).....
After Susan broke up, Susan guitarists Ricky Byrd joined Joan Jett & The Blackhearts & Tom Dickie formed Tom Dickie & The Desires who recorded 2 albums for Mercury Records.
Susan consisted of.....
Charles LeLand....Vocals & Bass Guitar.
Tom Dickie....Vocals & Guitars.
Ricky Byrd...Vocals & Guitars.
Mick LeLand....Drums.

I was lucky to catch Susan "live" at a very small club in Orlando Fla., in 1979 & Susan was very tight as a live band.

  • Nice piano and also great vocals by Charles Leland ( especially towards the end ). This group had three distinctive singers in Charles Leland, Tom Dickie, and Ricky Byrd. Now we just need Byrd's " A Little Time" on Youtube to have all three singers represented.

  • Great song! You were so fortunate to see Susan in concert! This was a very tight band that should have been huge, or at least bigger than they were. I think the Babys are a good comparison: romantic ballads and hard-driving rock.

I won this album from my hometown radio station, and I'm frustrated because now I can't find it. Surely I wouldn't have tossed it willingly. Time to scout out the record bins again!

I especially loved "Falling in Love Again," with the Marlene Dietrich sound-bite.
