The Polaris Sportsman 500 has been around since 1995 and is still a good performer, even by today's standards. At $5,999, the 500 costs less then it did back in 1995. Compared to the other machines under six grand, the Polaris delivers a full size chassis, with full size towing and weight capacity. The 500 H.O. delivers more displacement then competitively priced machines, and its full size chassis and suspension deliver one of the plushest rides on the market, even by today's standards. All of these reasons make Sportsman 500 potentially the best deal in ATVing.

  • any idea this vs ac 450i plowing snow and trail riding a few times a year in wi.

  • @terrplmb For a 450, the 450i runs strong and is in a compact chassis. The Carb equipped Polaris 500 is no slouch in the power department, in spite of being a larger heavier machine. Althouth the Polaris design dates back, its suspension takes big hits yet is still remarkably plush. The Polaris has less body roll thanks to its wider stance and sway bar. Both front wheels pull on the Polaris when the rear tires slip, with its weight it may have a few advantages for plowing. I hope this helps.

  • Cool video noticed one thing in the description though. They never made a sportsman 500 in 95 only the 400 the first year for the 500 was 96.

  • @bamper42069 Thanks for the insight. We actually chcked with the manufacturer on this, perhaps they released the 96 as an early release in 95? You definately sound like you know your Polaris ATVs.

  • Loll @ 3:28 the cat wants to ride it :P

  • @alexlecute Finally, someone notices the cat. I saw it in the footage while I was editing it and decided to leave it in for fun.

  • I think it all depends on your uses. sport? can am, hunting? all of em lean tword cat, hard core 4x4 low range? cat 1st,yamaha 2nd trails? polaris, farm ? honda. I ride with all of them they are all great and id take any of them just go with the best deal on a new one!

  • What is the best Atv in it class?? some ppl like can-am, artic cat, honda, yamaha, but what really is the best?? or your oppinion

  • I have the 2011 sportsman550 xp with EFI but not EPS i was wondering if EPS can be installed

  • I have a 98 500 sportsman with 9060 miles on it, and it's still runs and rides awesome. It's had one engine rebuild and all the suspension bushings were replaced with polyurethane ones, it also has the 2011 alloy wheels on it now.

  • Thanks for the response i really enjoy your videos, I test drove both th cat 450i and the sportsman 500 and 800, I went with the cat, 800 didnt seem that much more powerful 500 was nice 3 of my buddys have them, I wanted the fuel injection, and the cat dealer was great nice mom and pop type of place, After we went riding im real happy with the choice, that cat is fast for a 450, and 2 yr warranty.

  • @ATVonDemand hahaha at least it is a proof that everybody wants to ride a polaris!
