The growth of media has had an ever-expanding role in the lives of children, especially in terms of a child's physical and mental health. Here, Michael Rich, MD, MPH, director of the Center on Media and Child Health at Children's Hospital Boston, comments on media as a force that powerfully affects child development, health, and behavior. Paying particular attention to TV, movies, music, and video games, Rich offers perspective on common concerns over media and suggests ways to avoid the media's negative effects.

  • For the people judging hip hop, u need to understand 90% of the stuff u hear on tv or the radio isnt real hip hop. If ur curious about real hip hop then type in "Hip hop docktrine mixtape" or canibus-nigganometry or immortal technique

  • @muxmedia7 Those "artists" may be uncool in your opinion, and that's fine. Still thouh. My ears may bleed at the sound of most teenage girl pop music, i may scratch out my eyes at the sight of "pretty", but my mind will always be open to different interpretatios of this world, including that of rappers and kesha and jonas brothers alike. You seem heavily biased towards one side of this argument w/o actually hearing "young ages"' opinions. Like me. I'm 14 and your attitude ENRAGES me.

  • My Science Fair Project was based on this!

  • Grunge makes me sad.

  • @muxmedia7 agreed im a metal person which sometimes isnt the cleanest music but the new singers are always talking about stuff like that

  • memphis killa music messed my head up and i know thats what did it, but i love it too much to let go

  • @DazzieMetallikat um, no muxmedia7 has a point. you should watch the south park episode on it, its a comedy, but they make a very good point about it.

  • @muxmedia7

Are you kidding me?? I hate the Jonas Brothers, but their music is clean!

Oh, and KJ52 is a rapper. A CHRISTIAN rapper.

Don't just lump everyone together like that and say they corrupt people, jeez!

  • actually i can agree with this, "artists" like jonas bros, kesha, rappers, and other similar artists corrupt the minds of kids and tell them things like hookers, drugs, and sexual interaction at young ages and similar things are cool and ok. that is VERY uncool.
