I clicked this vid becuase I thought it was Simon Cowell with long hair. smh.

@AmericanDiaz yea well i didn't put it altogether until I went to Venice and I was thinking "all these gondola cats with those striped shirts kinda reminds me of Pat". Of course the gondoliers have had that general look for ages - I'm guessing Pat must have really dug the nautical vibe or something and went overboard with it (no pun intended).

@bowiemott lol, gondola driver...epic, I was always trying to think of a name for that look.

@getupanddosomething you have to listen to yourself at some point ,and come to grips with what your actually saying, as opposed to what you want to say. Developing as a person and as a player requires introspection but also being to step outside of ourselves and "face the music". Right now Im breaking lots of ground since coming to terms with this fact and at my late age am playing the fiercest guitar yet. Problem is I look like an old bastard doing it now!! hahaha

@mammers11 Did you do it for halloween? If you did you da man!!!
-
I had to look up 'homunculus.' I thought it meant a tiny penis for some reason.

@getupanddosomething I completely respect what you are saying, especially as respects economy of means --- the fewest notes. Of course it is not literally about the number of notes, but about noticing the effects of the notes. When you notice more, what the notes are doing, you tend to realize how much activity is already present in a few of them. Metheny is a very subtle player, even when he is playing loud, fast, and with many notes. It is because he pays such close attention.

@mammers11 ....And don't forget to go around grinning all the time! (I love Pat Metheny, and loved your joke.)
-
It is a search to express the deepest emotion with the fewest possible notes, for maximum clarity and impact. ... agree 100 % . Because of human complexity im sure we still all have some "own" strategy to search this, but what you is also true.

I'm going to be Pat Metheny for Halloween. Get a wig, striped shirt, jeans, the works...
Also, having taught as a Professor at a young age probably elevated his perspective quite a bit. Pat is a GENUIS/MASTER of the jazz guitar.

LOL..."partially retarded". That's brilliant. If he's 'retarded' sign me up, cuz the man is a creative monster, and when you grow up, i think you'll stop using that word.
All due respect to ya.
