Ever wanted to learn how to do a hard-cover journal? Here's the first step....sewing together the signatures. Please view the first part of Bookbinding I in order to see materials and learn how to cut and prep signatures.
Sorry about my head! I had no idea it was in the way until I started editing. Something to fix for the next vid!
You can get the waxed linen thread here: http://www.volcanoarts.biz/cart/bookbinding/index.htm
A pretty good video. It may take another three or four viewings of this, but I think I'm starting to get what the uploader here means. What a neat tutorial.

Hey! Thanks for sharing your techniques. I'm sure there must be a number of different ways to sew signatures together. Is there a name for this method?

Technicalities aside ( and Rho is very good on that subject!) , I enjoyed the video and want to try one that opens flats. It's a nice alternative to a coptic binding.

*laughs* The tripod is notoriously evil in that respect, as it doesn't like to stand where I want! I've tried it, and it doesn't work so well on things like this. For journal page vids, yes, but this one....hrmm. Thanks for the input!

I'm gonna have to give this a look, though I see a reply here that does have merit. I'm going for across from me, now, with someone operating the zoom.

No worries! It really helps to have imput from others so I can figure things out and make it easier for you all to view. For the next two, I film from across from me (so you're watching me) and had someone sit in to work the camera. I would have never done that if you hadn't said anything, and it worked out great!
