The return line broke somewhere between the deep end and where the pool filter was. We couldn't afford to rip out the pool to fix it and put in a new one, so when the water filled with algae we threw in a bag of 10 cent feeder fish. 4 survived the first winter and reproduced. We threw in one more bag of a dozen.
Now there's several hundred fish of various sizes and colours.

  • what fish are they and do u ever fish in there ?

  • @pike12345selmo They're just gold fish that started off as feeder fish. There's less than $2 of fish that went into the pool.

And I have gone fishing. I wouldn't eat the fish though, most are too small.

  • Thats a sin...

If it was a return line, i would have blocked that one off and just made a new one.

got creative and made a waterfall, or something.. i wouldn't have let a pool that big go....

All i can say now is, Get some big Plecostomus to clean the algae!!!

  • @Garthox It's expensive to do repairs through that much concrete, but we have tried plecos before and they didn't survive the seasonal temperature changes.

  • very interesting almost hipnotic

  • @jparment1 Imagine sitting outside on a nice afternoon with a cold drink in hand, watching them eat.

  • if you added allot of aquatic plants then the water would really clear up....no filter necessary.

  • would u guys ever try getting your pool clean again sometime?

  • i would start to sell some fish.....

  • how did the poop go like that

  • @sexiw0lf

Yeah i know it would be expensive, but i meant, if you just ran a new return line above ground. to a homemade cement/rock waterfall. Or heck, run the line back into the pool directly, (may not look pretty) but at least you would have your pool back. thats all meant.

That sucks .. that the Pleco's wouldn't work..
