Juan del Encina (1468 1529)
Mi libertad en sossiego
Cancionero de Palacio Nº208
Mi libertad en sossiego,
mi coraçón descuydado,
sus muros y fortaleza,
amores me l' an çercado.
Rrazon y Seso y Cordura
que tenía a mi mandado,
hizieron trato con ellos.
!Malamente m' an burlado!
y la Fé, que era el alcayde,
las llaves les ha entregado.
Combatieron por los ojos,
diéronse luego de grado.

My untroubled freedom,
my carefree heart,
its walls and defences,
have been besieged by Love.
Love has struck a bargain with Reason,
Wisdom and Good Sense,
which I had at my command:
how wickedly they have deceived me!
And Faith, which was the jailer,
has delivered the keys over to Love.
Love attacked through my eyes,
and them my defences all gladly yielded.
Performers: Ensemble Gilles Binchois
The piece "Mas vale trocar" by the same composer made me weep. If you like this go listen to it O_O

Cannot begin to describe the glorious pleasures to the eyes and ears your
videos bring! The singing and romantic poetry of this enchanting song are
divine! Spanish is called "the loving tongue" for reasons that are made clear
in this beautiful performance! Superb photos! Thank you!
