That little movie shows you one (of many) reasons why you should always get a Game Play Guarantee (aka GPG) when you purchase a game at your EB Games/Gamestop/EBX of your choice :)

European Girl Band, the Sugababes, were honored to be featuered in that fun little 'comercial' with the hit song "Push the button"

And I just noticed how bad my PC is, because the graphic sucks!

  • Scratches are physical damage.

  • Cracked disc is material defect if the disk cracks from the center hole. The Xbox spins the disc at high speed, and can cause undue stress on weak material. Scratches is misuse and the GPG does not cover misuse according to GameStop.com.

  • Wrong. It's not insurance on the Game. It's an unwritten material defect policy.

  • The store manager did replace my game after I explained the difference between defective material and misuse as my Game disc looked factory perfect, no scratches but started cracking from the center hole. Clearly defective material. However, since there is no written policy, you need to record the sales person stating what the plan covers so you have spoken testimony for guaranteed replacement. They usually say "it protects against defective and scratches" covering you for any scenario.

  • A recent confrontation at GameStop store prompted me to contact support.

Adam, in the post above, is saying that the plan protects against material defects not misuse. Scratches, in my opinion, constitute misuse. Removing the game from the box to console & back is normal use and should not get scratched. If it starts cracking in the center hole from repeated play, that’s defective material and is replaceable. The GPG is not a scratch protection plan, it’s a defect plan with no written policy.

  • Dear Valued Customer,

    Thank you for contacting GameStop.com.

We deeply apologize, however we do not have a written copy of the GPG plan available. The plan will allow you to replace the game if it becomes defective with in a years time. The plan does not cover miss use or abuse of the product.. Please see a store associate for further information.

If you have any other questions, please feel free to respond to this email.

    Best Regards,

    Adam

  • @DrCruel It is not so much protection against a defect product as insurance on the game. If you get any scratches from the system itself or if you accidentally scratch it or etc you're still protected. The general return policy covers you as far as buying a defective game but the GPG allows you to return a game you yourself made defective. :)

  • I never get the GPG, and always tell the cashier that I don't want it. So the last time I was there, teh store rep didn't even bother to ask - she just sold it to me anyway, without bothering to ask.

Of course I want to be protected from defective products. But the consumer protection laws in my state already do that. Why should I pay for a refund agreement that Gamestop is already obligated by law to provide for free?

  • can I trade in a perfectly good game for another one with the same value if I bought a gpg?

  • GPG's are still offered as long as the disc isn't cracked your good. I buy them for any game that I know I want to keep. I have returned 3 games without any problem. All with the ring. And they always gave me a new game.
