I'm sorry, but if you can't skate like Michelle Kwan don't skate to East of Eden. Rachel isn't that strong of skater to pull of such a dramatic piece of music. Being a skater myself, I know that yes it was technically a good and sound program, but artistically it fell flat. She didn't use the music to her advantage by making every movement count, she instead just rushed through the motions just to get it done and over with. No one will every replace Michelle Kwan's 2001 SP to East of Eden.

Love this program even when I am not impressed by her as a skater. I feel she isn't flexible enough to be graceful. I wish she would have chosen a different dress color.. that yellow washes her out!

@naiwnaj Well, what she does is actually good for the footwork since it is hard to balance yourself while doing different rockers, counters, loops, while using arm movements. That's why now, in skating, you need to use upper, lower and arm movements to get high level points. From my point of view and as a skater myself, it looks good and it's suppose to be that way.

That really is a great short program. She skates this very well... yes, indeed a brave choice of music, but love the way she hits every crescendo in the music. Well done.

Is it just me, or is East of Eden a pretty ballsy choice when Kwan had such a wonderful short program to this music? I know it was a few years back now, but any US figure skating fan who was following FS at the time will remember and compare.
