One of my favorite sets to play at session, O'Carolan's 'Fanny Power' with 'The South Wind'... This is done using a Samson CO1U Condensor Microphone on my new Nickel Copeland in D -- which I'm blaming for any flubs as I'm still trying to learn its characteristics. :)

  • Is that a standard High D tinwhistle? It doesnt sound like one (it sounds too good).

    Wonderful theme choice and performance.

  • It is a high D whistle, but it's a Copeland -- I bought mine in silvered nickel when he still made them for about $320.

  • does this piece have any political relenvance?..

ive asked people to play this whilst in ireland, and got the cold shoulder....???/

  • Not that I know of... never encountered that problem.

  • Beautiful. Two of my favorites, and done so well. What's the whistle?

  • Nickel Copeland in D.

  • @STEVEFINNERTY Hi, unfortunately some, but by no means the majority of irish traditional musicians have a certain bbia against O'Carolan's music and consider it not to be 'traditional'. That was the reason for the cold shoulder - nothing political. Myself I come from close to where O'Carolan is buried and love his music.

  • What's wrong with 26 people? :/

  • Excelente versión ,Muy Bueno!!!

  • I hadn't heard Fanny Power before. Nice playing! I love your version of the South Wind, and may steal some of your ideas!

  • I hadn't heard Fanny Power before. Nice playing!

  • beauty...two wonderful tunes!

  • That is beautiful!

  • I'm not sure there is a solder. As far as I know, it's just rolled and pressed tin. The art of the tinsmith.

  • @edelahaye I have an original Clarke's whistle in C that belonged to my grandfather. It still plays too and I still use it. I worry sometimes about there maybe being lead in the solder.

  • If you are using Audacity to record the sound, it can produce a "mono track" from the source (can be left/right, whatever, the result is centered). If you want a stereo, just change the mono track to a stereo one (but it won't change anything in the sound of stereo, unless you are using a stereo effect that requires a stereo input and output.
