I agree with Shoregirlie and Ms Ghurd. I have rarely seen a female singer of this caliber and I am 53 yrs old . Unfortunately, I did not even know who she was until she died. What a horrible loss. (No disrespect to Whitney; great voice but she didn't have the heartfelt, genuine emotion that Amy, Janis and Jimmy had and therfore doesn't belong in the same category. (in my opinion, sry MsGhurd)

All I can say is this: I'm almost 60, have seen "a few" phenomenal singers go away before their time and I will add Amy to the list, right alongside Janis, Jim, and now Whitney. What a shame the love and adoration we all felt for her could not save her from herself. I quite honestly shed tears knowing I will only get to hear her recorded voice, and mourn for what could have been.

Dude really? Do you realize this is one of the most amazing voices in our lifetime? Listen again..... pure talent, even under the influence. I'm thinking she felt alone, and went to drugs/alcohol for comfort.... like so many amazing talents we've lost... Janis, Elvis, oh god...too many... but if you listen closely... you'll realize we were a part of something amazing... but too short. Hope she's in a good place now... wishin we had more of you Amy...
