I got sick with XTREME EPIC bosses people like to make, so I went for something simple. Just a little multi-stage boss.
I think I kinda got carried away a little.
It was first meant to be a self-tutorial with the newest version of Fraxy (v20100822beta). I don't know when global variables got introduced, but they are p. cool, as are reflect rays. I'm down with bouncy bullets.
This boss was not meant to be difficult--or overwhelming at all. The penultimate pattern betrays that design a little, but hey, whatevs. What I was aiming was that I will be able to beat each pattern without dying and without lagging my craptop. There were two deaths, but I think one can be excused. :p
Eventually, I will adjust the screen effects a little so I won't be killed by it, as well as the final death animation (which didn't really get caught in this vid.) If I get frustrated, I might as well overhaul the entire boss--I want it to do something neat every time the barrier gets broken and it enters the next stage.
If you want to try, here's the script for May Rain. Considering the degree by which extra parameters are used, any rank below 100 will look weird and buggy -- http://privatepaste.com/a2d86542fe
The architecture is a little wonky and messy, since I never meant it to be more than 30 parts at first. I tried to label each part and event, but I stopped doing that after a while. :p
The BGM is Polaris, by Mutsuhiko Izumi. The piece is from Jubeat! The game is mega great, you should totally play it if you have the chance.
You got sick of epic bosses? Something's terribly wrong with you.
Other than that, decent first boss. :P

@Aquamancia I'm down with epic bosses, but XTREME EPIC is kinda getting old with me, since most people go for XTREME EPIC by reaching the bullet limit. :|
Anyways, thanks :D Though I couldn't call it a first boss. I've made a decent bit, but just never bothered to share before.
