Part of Gardner-Webb University Theatre's presentation of "All in the Timing" by David Ives. Starring Matt Fraiser as Leon Trotsky, Traci Beckett as Mrs. Trotsky, and Josh House as Ramon Mercader, directed by student director Kyle Case.

Gardner-Webb theatre tries to take a non-traditional approach to shows as well as emphasize STUDENT theatre. Our shows are designed by a faculty member, but the work is all done by students. This show was directed entirely by student directors.

  • heya, im currently directing this play and i need help with the axe-handle protruding from his skull...how did you guys pull it off? =]

  • Well, I'm not sure of all the details since I didn't make it, but basically it was a small hair bow with a lightweight axe attached to it. The handle was plastic, and the axe head was I believe plastic covered with aluminum foil. There was an elastic band that went under the actor's chin to help secure it, which was covered up by makeup, and another band that went around his head under his hair. It may not be the best design, but it worked.

  • I was Ramone in a production of this play back in 2005. We played him dramatically different on the whim of my director. I actually think that this interpretation is alot closer to what David Ives intended, but our interpretation was funnier. Still, to each their own. I actually have my schools production up on YouTube if you want to see how we did it.

  • I watched your production... good job with it! Very different and very funny! Yeah, each director has his own vision. Our school usually does comic plays in a very over-the-top manner. My director simply wanted a "Speedy Gonzales" type voice, and it went from there. Our director was also a student director, and this was one of his first plays, so I think it turned out pretty well!

  • Im Playing Ramon in february :)

    my first theatre show yayyyyyyyy

  • It's a fun part if you do it right. I've seen it done several different ways and it has the potential to be one of the funniest parts in the entire play!
