Irikumi literally means continuous sparring. It is a form of combat where fighters are allowed to use close-fighting techniques such as grappling, take-downs, elbow and knee strikes, etc. There are 2 types of irikumi - "Go" is harder and may end with a K.O. and "Ju" is softer and is a match to see who has better skills, not to see who is tougher.

  • so what is exact difference between randori and irikumi? I allways thaught, that randori is more for technique training purposes - most important is good kick or punch technique, not the strenght (kicks ant punches are executed 30-50% of power). Sorry for my english.

  • Randori means "experimenting", and is a free, controlled, train-like sparring. It is the "final step" before irikumi, the latter being closer to real-fight, continuous and poerful.

But names aside, the most important thing is to train...

  • Nice ... is it from a IOGKF - dojo ?

  • Torneios de sparring da IOGKF costumam a ser nesse estilo ? Lembra um pouco o Shinken Shobu da Kyokushin-kan . Interessante , gostei.

  • The literal meaning of irikumi in the original Japanese is more like a set/group of entering (the opponent's personal space) methods. One can practice irikumi in a continuous manner when doing kakie, for example.

  • Nice! In Shotokan this tipe of continuous fighting is just called Ju Kumite, it's only used in Dojo training and exams, for competitions we call it Shiai Kumite but it has diferent rules and purpose... Can a Shotokan fighter take parte in your IriKumi competitions?Osu!

  • Ous!

  • Whoof. Those are some hard takedowns to be doing without a mat.

  • good sweep

  • i wouldn'y say it was a gr8 fight but it looks interesting

  • NICE! Pity the video's so short, would have watched a lot more than that if the option was there, good job guys!

  • your wrong! of course we do! dont know who you been training with but that doesnt sound good.
