God of War: Ghost of Sparta - Walkthrough Part 05 - Boss: Callisto (Spartan)

Difficulty: Spartan (Hard).

This is part 5 of my God of War: Ghost of Sparta playthrough/guide series. This video shows me fighting the game's second boss, Callisto.

Here's a short guide:

The fight against Callisto is a tough one. She is cheap and hard to avoid. She fights almost like the Ogre we encountered in part 4, but there are a few different attacks to be aware of:

- Callisto swings at Kratos. Time your dodges and make sure you move to the SIDE of Callisto or you are likely to get hit anyway. If you move towards or away from the boss during your dodge, you'll probably take damage,

- Callisto charges, grabs Kratos and throws him against a wall. This attack doesn't hurt that much but it's easily avoidable. If Callisto charges and catches Kratos in the middle of the room, (not near any walls) she will throw him.

- Callisto charges, grabs Kratos and pins him against a wall. This happens when she catches Kratos during a charge near a wall. A short action sequence will start and you will need to mash L and R to escape Callisto's grip. After, you will be given the chance to smash her head against the wall. Remember that you can only attack 4 times before another action button pops up. If you do not hit this action button, Callisto's attack will reset and you have to start the L+R thing again. It is very important that you get the action button the first time because Kratos can only survive this attack 2-3 times.

Overall it's important to know when exactly to dodge. The destructible things in the room yield Red Orbs, and only Callisto can destroy the pillars, so you may want to take advantage of that. Also, if you stay in the middle of the room and dodge at the right times, you can rack up a big chain against the boss like I did. Good luck!

This makes no sense. I assume that she says "Zeus is your father" but in God Of War 2 (which takes place after Ghost Of Sparta" he is surprised when Athena tells him that Zeus is his father. Much like in God Of War 1 they say that no mortal man has ever killed a god, yet in Chains Of Olympus (which takes place before God Of War 1) he kills Hades wife... who is a god. Damn this series can't stop creating plotholes and inconsistencies.

Recall the king in Clash of the Titans. The King tried to kill Perseus, and was transformed into a ugly ass beast. The Transformation looks similar in a way.
