  • @SoulSister66 I totally agree:it's fun when artists cover songs, but the heart behind the cover really speaks to how much weight you can put on it being "the best version". Plus, I just like Jimmy's version best because he's speaking from the soul--he makes cover songs his own because of the truth and life he naturally puts into them.

Not that other artists don't do that too, but any Jimmy fan will tell you that there's something special about the way he does it.

  • Gotta love Jimmy!

  • cgignac,

    LOL! Do your history research.

"Blue Skies" is an old Jazz Standard that goes way back, sung by many jazz greats since the 30's.

I dig Willie, but all these recent other genre artists (rock stars, etc...) doing jazz standards today can never compare to the masters. Jimmy is a jazz master and one who has influenced many other artists. Willie is a fan! :>)

  • Na na Belle Baker made it on stage in BETSY, i lot a peoples sang the song but Willie Nelson made a number ONE in 1978 thats why it is Willie Nelson song!!! NA NA Na Na NA!!!

  • haha, Willie Nelson was maybe the 800th singer to sing /record "Blue skies". Nelson did a nice job, but it's not HIS song! ;-)

  • the name of the song is (blue sky ) from Willie nelson

  • Too bad that he met and deserved success such old.

  • I have a huge respect for the man!

BTW, this is the standard song "Blue skies".

  • I'm glad he is still performing, but he is 82 now and all the travelling and life on the road must be a lot to go through. I met him last year after a gig in London and he seemed it great spirits though....

  • Yes...thank you for posting. But, WOW...he got frail all of a sudden. We performed at the same gig a few years ago and I saw him again at a jazz venue about a yr after that and he didn't look that frail. He still hasn't lost the melodrama when he sings!!!
