The best free programs for 2d and 3d frames are wolsink framework (working with wine) and frame3dd

CalculiX has beam and shell elements but they are based on brick elements. This makes them special and you can make a mistake if you ignore it.

By using CGX and CCX I need following:

    1. I am interested in modelling of 2d frame using line. Also I need its static and dynamic analysis.

    2. How to model an integrated 03 story and 03 span slab-frame system. Using Area Element (2D) for slab and Line element for frame.

I will appreciate if you suggest in above two points.

    Thanks

    Hi

This video suggests that calculix can be used in design office for structural analysis of building system.

I've installed calculix in ubuntu 10.10 and cannot find the right tutorial. All guides available appears to be scattered. Even the yahoo group is not that helpful.
