日本語：はじめにこのたびの日本のじしんでひがいにあわれたかたがたにおみまいもうしあげます。

ひきこもりは今、日本の社会げんしょうです。ひきこもりとは、独りぼっちになるためにへやにいつも閉じこもる人です。日本の若者の中で３０percent がひきこもりと言われています。その中で、８０percent が男性です。ヒキコモリには色々なげんいんがあります。

いちばんおきなげんいんはいじめです。いじめられるとはずかしとかかなしいきもちになって、じしんがなくなります。そして、自分のへやにひきこもります。

に番目はかぞくのかんけいがうまくいっていない子どもがひきこもりになりやすいと言われています。おやがきびしすぎたり, かほごだったり、むかんしんだったりすると子どもがひきこもりになります。

まだまだたくさんりゆうがあります。

私たちのＪＰＮ１０２のメンバと友達でみじかいひきこもりの映画をつくりました。わたしたちはまいにちにほんごのぶんぽうや、かいわのれんしゅうをしています。いっしょう­けんめいやりました。どうぞごらんください。

私たちがつくったこの映画は本当にあってもおかしくない話です。

引きこもりの問題は、とてもふかいです。いま、いつしょに、このもんだいについてかんがえてみませんか？

English: We would like to start off by giving our deepest condolences for the people of Japan who were effected by the earthquake on March 11, 2011.


The Hikikomori phenomenon is an issue which concerns Japanese society. A hikikomori is a person who, to escape society has confined itself in its room. About 30% of Japan's youth are Hikikomori, and 80% of Hikikomori are men. There are various reasons to why people become Hikikomori.

The most common reason which causes this phenomenon is bullying. The potential victim will feel shameful and guilty, causing him or her to stay indoors to avoid contact from outside.
Another factor to the cause of this stigma is the relationship between the Hikikomori and the family: if the parents are too strict then the person might not take the pressure lightly and might end up becoming one. On another hand, if the parents are too easy going then the person might end up lacking responsibility and this could result in the victim becoming Hikikomori.

However, these are not the only reasons, there are also other causes.

In the JPN 102 class we have practiced our speech and grammar on a daily basis. Also, our class has created a short film with the help of HTIC students, which deals with the Hikikomori issue in Japan.

The film you are about to see is based off real events as it is a problem that must be taken seriously.

The Hikikomori phenomenon is a truly complex matter that deserves attention from all of us.

This video was created by the Hawaii Tokai International College's Winter Term 2011's Japanese 102 class. I am happy and proud of the students who put their time and effort into this video. I'm very happy to have worked with these students. 皆さん，本当にありがとう！本当楽しかったです！
