  • Why do they play "music" through their garbage PA Systems which are not suited for full frequency audio reproduction!!!! It simply RUINS the actual sounds of the aircraft. The people at these shows who do that are just Bozos.

  • @paullubliner

I have been working airshows for over 20 years and they all do it.

We are "changing the music" at Planes of Fame Air Museum. Starting next year we are using a dedicated audio system for the P.A. and sound recorders on the runway. Not only does the PA music always sound crappy, we cant use a wide range of copyrighted music in our production videos. We purchase our music tracks from Audio Networks, and its digital quality!

  • ur wrong pal is not one of the most beautiful.... IT IS THE MOST BEAUTIFUL SOUND :P

  • I wish they'd can the loud announcers and music at air shows. OR use them more judiciously. Gets in the way of the real music! Leave the razzle-dazzle to Hollywood.

  • @TJDOZIER1: I have been going to airshows since I first saw the Blue Angels flying Grumman F11's in 1959. I videoed the 357th F.G,. at Chino in April 1993 with my late Dad who was 20th A.F. The airshows didn't ALWAYS do it. I don't remember it at Chino in the 70's. It is wholly amateur theatrics, is annoying and in no way beneficial viewing the aircraft.

  • @TJDOZIER1 Thanks for the information on the difference, i.e., interchangeable vs non-interchangeable parts.

  • @brettt777

It is known in the industry that mechanics at Rolls Royce would receive a mustang with a Packard engine for service....

and they would remove the Packard valve covers and slap on Rolls Royce valve covers, and thats usually why you see Rolls Royce on the Merlin engines today.

  • @fbenenati

The Rolls Royce Merlin engines were all hand made in England and parts were not interchangable.

The Packard Merlin engines were produced under license in America in an assembly line process with interchangable parts.

  • @brettt777 . I must confess I do not know how to identify the difference between Packard Merlin and Rolls Royce Merlin. Maybe someone else who reads our correspondence can enlighten both of us. I appreciate your comments and envy your proximity to Ain't Misbehaven. Best regards, Fred Benenati
