Robert F. Kennedy speech on the Assassination of Dr. Martin Luther King.
While, officially, this is listed as one of the greatest in American history, ranked 17th by communications scholars in a survey of 20th century American speeches. I Personally believe this to be the greatest speech considering the circumstances it was given under.
Even though Several of Kennedy's aides were worried that the delivery of this information would result in a riot he felt he need to speak to the crowd gathered there. He gave this speech not on some grand podium in the middle of Washington DC, but it was given standing on the back of a flat bed truck.
"Both Mankiewicz and speechwriter Adam Walinsky drafted notes immediately before the rally for Kennedy's use, but Kennedy refused Walinsky's notes, instead using some that he had likely written on the ride over; Mankiewicz arrived after Kennedy had already begun to speak. The Indianapolis chief of police warned Kennedy that the police could not provide adequate protection for the senator if the crowd were to riot, but Kennedy decided to go speak to the crowd regardless. Standing on a podium mounted on flatbed truck, Kennedy spoke for just four minutes and fifty-seven seconds"
Just 2 months later Robert F. Kennedy was gunned down leaving a void that has not been filled successfully in this country today.
I uploaded this today because I know many people have never heard this speech before. Some of my subscribers or under 20 years old and they have never heard what many consider to be one of the most heartfelt speeches in American History. I believe that this speech is so important because of the circumstances it was delivered and it was from Robert Kennedy himself and it did not come from a speechwriter. He knew that what he needed to say that night had to come from the heart. This was not a time to campaign for the position of the President of the United States of America. This was a time to mourn the loss of a great man. It was a time to bring reason to a justifiably angry culture and community. His words brought peace to a city that may have erupted in violence and chaos like many other major cities.
Unfortunately, it has been over forty years since this speech and his own assassination shortly after it was given, many people have never been exposed to it. I hope when people see this speech and Dr. martin Luther Kings speech I have a dream they can see that times have changed and we have only had imitations of these two great people, but not the genuine article. If you like this video, please share it with your friends and family. It has been way to long since someone has stepped up under a major crisis and really had the general publics best interest at heart.
There are many great speeches. Dr. Martin Luther Kings I have a dream speech is also one of the greatest and is ranked number 1 of the 20th century. I know the title of the video is going to lead to a debate on the greatest speech. Which is a good thing. We need more people to experience moments like this. This is just my personal opinion because of the circumstances the speech was made under.
While we are not entitled to all the fruits life has to offer, we are entitled to the opportunity to live our lives as free people with the ability to succeed or fail on our own merits.
Hate will only destroy what little you may have. Hate is a tool for dividing the weak amongst each other. Dont be fooled into thinking any different. A person of a different race, religion or gender is not your enemy. As Dr. Martin Luther King said so elequently
"I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character."
This is what we must strive for.

Even in our sleep, pain that cannot forget falls drop by drop upon the heart until in our despair and against our will, comes wisdom from the awful grace of god.

One of the very few people who was ahead of his time. He would have put the U.S on the course of greatness! Even when he was laying in a pool of blood all he could say was that if everyone was okay. His name will echo an eternity

Sadly, politicians of this calibre are gone; replaced with dumb-ass puppets.

The amazing part is that this speech is impromptu, no teleprompters. The police did NOT want RFK there, and pregnant Ethel (#11, Rory) left for her safety. Note that there were NO riots in Indianapolis that evening. When someone speaks from the heart and sincerely and personally, people notice.
I also noticed the parallel construction from much of the speech.

What this world need is a hero that doesn't get assassinate, every time when people try to make a change, and the people that fear of human progress will hunt those that is trying to make a change. What we need is a reform world gearing to a new world.
