Shooting ice blocks and water bottles with a M1 Garand.

The first shot wasn't a miss, it actually just grazed the bottle. After a little sight adjustment it was dead-on.

  • how far away did you shoot?

  • The range was about 50 yards.

  • how much power 30.06 has?

  • How do you define "power"?

  • does anyone know exactly how many joules a 30.06 puts down range

  • It depends on what the load is, how heavy the projectile is, how much and what kind of powder is used.

It also depends on what distance you're talking about. The energy a bullet has is always highest at point blank range, it beings to drop dramatically the moment it leaves the barrel. At the muzzle, a typical .30-06 projectile that weighs 150gr and travels at about 2900 ft/s will have about 2800 ft/lbs of energy, or about 3800 joules. At 300yds it will be about half of that.

  • jordanm2012 is right! that rifle helped america win the war and i hate all the faggets that have no respect for what the people did in euorope, africa etc... all of those men and women who served in the war lost a lot of friends and family, and i would love to pound the losers who have theyre head so far shoved up thier ass to make fun of the veterans. we salute and restpect you war vets!

  • excuse me? don't insult that rifle. it's one of the best rifles in American history.

  • What's the best method to zero the sights? I can't find any good instructions anywhere.

  • would a .270 blow up stuff as good a 30-06? Because I am looking for a higher powered gun that I can use for shock-and-awe target shooting.

  • m1 garand or ak 47 mines the garand only cause i have one

  • lol

  • Man that gun's a fucking beast wow.

  • PING! those nazi bottles are dead

  • u can get them new online from Fulton Armory

  • have you ever heard of the cmp Civilian Marksmenship Program ? They sell refurbished M1's .The cost of the rifles are relative to the manufacturer and the grade(condition)of the rifle, 1000$ up to 5000$ a sniper(scoped ) variant are sometimes also offered but they are very rare and expensive. They also have M1903' Springfields M1 carbines and occasionaly the Johnson rifle (very expensive) You can find there site online and all sales are done online(thru your local licensed dealer)nice site

  • m1 garands are very hard to find at stores and when you do find them they are expensive. You would be lucky to find an m1 at a store at shootable condition for under $1000 and they get up to around $5000 if you want matching parts. But I would try any gun shop that sells used guns. Cabelas has many used guns you might try there. I saw an m1 garand there before.

  • mr. ice block didnt stand a chance :(
