  • @SkylarPro I'm just saying that imo this is no bad album or bad music. to me it's good song writing and a good piece of work. it however lacks a certain flavor which might be lost for good. which of course is fucking sad. still I find it hard to divide their albums into better and worse ones as I always loved certain songs and never had a clear fave album. but I do see the difference between this one and its predecessors and I guess I don't feel as strong, but similar about it as you do.

  • @eatingcandy of course it's subjective, but if we were to take that under consideration we couldn't talk about art at all, could we?so,as my taste is mine and i consider it to be pretty good, plus i'm intersted in music in a very wide perspective, i listen to a lot of different thungs and read about it too as it just endlessly fascinates me, i dare say that the previous albums were much better.

  • @SkylarPro lol no no, I didn't mean to say that of course xD

I don't necessarily consider the prior albums as that much better, they rather just happen to be my thing much more. I mean what you can relate to has to do with your personal preferences, it's a very subjective thing after all. I never liked every single song and/or way of them but I loved and love a lot of it of course and yes, I can relate much more to their darker periods too. well what can I say, I'm crossing my fingers for you!

  • @eatingcandy i don't support lack of developing oneself and doing the exact same thing the whole time.but i'm sure you'll agree with me that each one of the 5 previous albums was in a way totally different from the rest, yet still managed to keep that 'something' that makes placebo so special.they are all amazing pieces of art to me.and BFTS is just... i don't even know what it is.i'm just really hoping the 7th one will be nothing like the 6th.

  • @SkylarPro oh I totally get why ashtray heart can be an annoying song for one, definitely. when you listen to the words though it's not exactly a bright tune.

I'm also more into the simple, cynical (and yet deeply romantic) songs of them, I love "I know", "days before you came"... definitely prefer dark stuff to bright one anyway. then again I find it vital that artists just let out what they got on their minds, sticking with sth for the sake of it wouldn't work anyway.

  • @eatingcandy for me those songs are waaaay too easy and bright for placebo. placebo is dark, twisted as you said, difficult, full of double meanings in their lyrics, full of beautiful sadness and sentiment.i love the pure essence of placebo in, for example,'lady of the flowers', 'without you i'm nothing', 'special needs', 'I'll be yours' or 'in the cold light of morning', so i think you get why i hate things like ashtray heart, to me it's a disgrace to their music.

  • @SkylarPro lol well I like breathe underwater and ashtray heart I find kinda funny, don't have any major problem with it as I partly have with bright lights and speak in tongues.

imo they always did pop in ways. not exclusively of course and always with a twist but still. what I don't like too much about the new album is that very broad and clean thing about it. I actually do consider it as an example of very good song writing but as I said before, slightly too explained and slick for my taste.

  • @eatingcandy bright lights are too much for anyone with at least a bit of taste in music lol.and so is breathe underwater or ashtray heart.total pieces of shit, excuse my french.the only songs i respect from this album are julien, kings of medicine and, actually, speak in tongues.kitty litter is ok.the rest...god,help me.it's almost like pop music.it's so easy and cheap.placebo was always different, unique, not for everyone.i love all 5 albums to death.and i'll just pretend this one doesn't exist...

  • @SkylarPro yeah, do you hate it? idk, first it was way too broad, stadium rock and explained for me (esp. the latter remains an issue for me at certain points) but by now I really like it. bright lights and speak in tongues still are too much for me lol but kitty litter I liked right away, just as come undone and by now I also really like most of the others.

  • @eatingcandy sure, no one's denying brian's the best. even though the last album sucks big time.
