Devotional and School Song at Ruseas High School

These are the students at Ruseas High School singing their morning devotionals and their school song. This high school was founded in 1777 when Martin Rusea, a French refugee, passed away leaving bequeathing the land to build a "free school". For many, many years, only about 100 students could attend. As you'll see, after the 1970's, when public school became available to every Jamaican, not just rich colonials from England, the population at the school exploded. There are approximately 2,200 students there today. Even so, the school was in desperate need of books. Their library had just a smattering of books when we were there but my friends and I created a series of service project that have since donated hundreds of books to this library as well as art supplies, school supplies and musical instruments.

Russia! This was my high school back in Jamaica. I wish I had a ton of money so that I coul donate some to Ruseas. I would give it to the person who is in charge of aesthetics so that he/she could use it accordingly. I say this because the school looks dilapidated. Maybe something is wrong with my eyes but that's just how it seems to me. I would do so much for this school. To Russia, with love. A dat mi seh!
