In Snapshot you get to experience spaceship combat, set in the far future.

Snapshot was an all in one game loosely based on the famous Games Designer Workshop (GDW) series - Traveler. See a picture of the items in the series http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Traveller_books.jpg

In snapshot you get to play an adventurer, the police, the military or indeed space animals caught in a skirmish aboard a Traders Space Ship.

The idea of the game is that by either playing as a team (a multi player game), or one on one but with multiple characters under your control, you must destroy the enemy.

Indeed you could also play capture the flag or other scenarios, the game is just a framework for enacting this type of combat.

In the tradition of role play games of that era (late 70s, early 80s), each character is rolled for and takes on certain characteristics (strengths / weaknesses), the rest is up to you.

  • I played this and the boxed starship combat game (Slingshot?) and a lot of Traveller. The reason I ended up here is I have a hankering to make a First Person Shooter using Cry Engine 3 based around boarding actions.

  • @ionwerks Check out snapshotbygdws channel. Good luck with your project!

  • I NEVER thought of using matchboxes to hold game components. Great idea.

  • @ORCA4312 ha ha. yeah. Check out the war and peace vid - that was a labour of love (matchbox wise)

  • OMG. I can't believe you have Traveller content. Awesome, Dude.

I had a couple dozen booklets, Snapshot, and Azshanti High Lightning.

  • @ORCA4312 Check out snapshotbygdws channel he has a vid showing off the rule booklets and the old citadel figures. He's commented here so just click on his name to see the vid.

  • @ScipioAfricanusI I loved Traveller/ Never really got a group together to play, but spent MANY hours rolling characters and designing ships and space sectors.
