Haley's role must have been unbelieveably challenging: making an audience care about such a sick, twisted person. He ultimately achieves what I think the role required to work: reminding us that he is a person like everyone else, a person with hurts, desires, longings and flaws.

the thing about this scene is that he doesn't know how to tell her that he's fucked up too. if you see that he's focused on the swing set at the playground you can piece together that he was sexually abused there as a child. the things he says aren't thing he means for her - they're the things he was told when he was being sexually abused. in a weird way its like he's trying to connect and empathize with her the way she was with him over dinner.

LOL... me and my GF saw this like a year ago, to this day well go out sometimes and ill act like im wanking it, shell say "put it away ronnie".... i think the "scare" factor with this is that goofy ass look on his face, couldve at least smiledor something
