Very hard to belieive that he, at one time, had no confidence in his voice. I'm sure that he was meant to realize that he has a fantastic voice. I can't imagine his music without that voice!!
If you do love his music, may I suggest you read some of the books he was reading in this era of his career and earlier on also, it will help you understand his music better, and the world at large too I suppose. People like George Orwell, Nietzche,Kahlil Gibran, even Lovecraft
If you pick up one of his better biographies you will find the references you need.
you dont know how much we have in common but Im totally the same, i always tell my friends about him and they whine and whine and ask if i dont have something better to talk about and i say "never". just because his music is not 'Todays new music', i think that's dumb i mean just because im 15 doesn't mean i can only listen to Lady gaga and lil wayne..i dont even like that sort of music it has no flavour. David Bowie is my passion.
I know exactly what you mean, and all my friends are like- "why cant you listen to something other people listen to, like," ...umm, actually i don't pay any attention to music now a days, i dunno who's who, the all sound the same, in that, they are singing for MONEY, not passion, like people used to in Bowies times!!! If it weren't for David Bowie, i would be just as insane as most of the world!!!!
When I got into Bowie I was thought odd. My friends (male) where into the usual heavy metal etc. But Bowie crosses all musical genres and he's awsome. He's made so muc great music and influenced so many people in pop/ rock art etc.
