played this at SU Honors band last year and am playing it in youth orchestra this year... go figure I have the same conductor for it too... awesome piece with awesome memories, though!

You don't die if once a year people clap during this march. I understand, it's a brilliant march and you'd like to concentrate on that but seriously it's not that big of a deal.

@SpeedyNeutrino43 I agree, but I wouldn't call the clappers "clods". They are people taking delight in music. If you heard this march being used AS a march, you'd also have to endure sound of the stomping of shoes or boots on a street or parade ground, yet soldiers marching to it would never reduce the march to an auditory experience only. By marching (and clapping) we celebrate this music, and all that it inspires.

I'm thankful for every time I can listen to this fine march without the distraction and obfuscation of a bunch of clods in the audience clapping along. .....tradition be damned.
