www.americanfeud.org Copyright 2008 An extra scene from the 2008 documentary: American Feud: A History of Conservatives and Liberals. The 90 minute DVD contains 14 extra minutes of professor Chomsky. Here, Chomsky argues that the conventional notion of "invisible hand" is mistaken and that though worshipped by conservatives, Adam Smith is very rarely read.

"The great non-sequitur committed by defenders of the state, is to leap from the necessity of society, to the necessity of the state" - Murray Rothbard

As much as I respect Hayek and Smith as fantastic economists, they were wrong about the necessity of the state. The entire notion of "limited government" is logically absurd, and in complete contradiction with the basic principles of liberty.

Having a market based stateless system would completely break down because it's economically unsustainable has no social contract and borderline inhuman.

The reason why statless societies like anarchist Spain existed is because they were based on liberty and had a social contract.

  • @istraight1 Yes that's true.

  • not all socialist countries have dictators like not all free market countries have democracy (republic).

  • @HammerOvThor

Yea... it all comes down to Chomsky simply not understanding economics as well as he seems to think he does.

  • "I'm an anarchist but I'm against legitimately free trade!" this will never do. I absolutely adore Chomsky, but this sort of blatant contradiction can't go unrecognized. READ BASTIAT- WHAT IS SEEN AND WHAT IS NOT SEEN.

  • "Kim Jong-Il and his son would agree with you, I'm sure."

    What an ignorant comment.

I'm arguing for total free-market capitalism, and the illegitimacy of a state of any size. I'm quite positive that Socialist Dictators would not agree with that.

"But whether the Constitution really be one thing, or another, this much is certain - that it has either authorized such a government as we have had, or has been powerless to prevent it. In either case, it is unfit to exist." - Lysander Spooner
