  • Lori, no question about it. Tarja's voice is too classicaly perfect, and therefore I don't hear any emotion in it at all, it's just about voice perfection. But when I listen to music, I want the singer to portray some sort of emotion, because that's what music is: emotion ! So my vote goes to Lori Lewis. Not only that, but Lori gives a much better live performance, as she moves around more and she seems much more friendly than Tarja does. I don't care how many people disagree with me. Go Lori !

...3) She does sing in her classical shows opera arias.

Comparing those with everything I have heard, she is extremely high level.

For eg her performances of Carmen, Zueignung or Rusalka are incredible.

If you want to compare Lori and Tarja from the "operatic" POV, do it using the same aria.

I have a lifelong experience of listening opera, hit me with a comparative example or stfu.

  • en mi humilde opinión.... ambas tiene un rango vocal sorprendente y ni una ni la otra tienen nada que envidiarse... ambas son DIOSAS para admirar

  • @liricobarroco thanks for coment.

  • @rsimion3

Don't be nervous, man, I'm sure that you can do better.

  • @Antraxilon

You cannot possibly be my father, inbreeds like yourself are born sterile.

  • @Antraxilon

So finally: - if you think that throwing 2 random terms will make people bow.. think again.

Vibratto and falsetto... you were almost funny with that one.

BTW falsetto is considered a capital error in operatic singing but why talk about it.

Seeing you.. if you are able to recognize woman's falsetto from head voice i'll cut an arm off.

  • @Antraxilon

...2) - she is more agile than a lyrical soprano

    - the most important: she developed squillo, which is definitory for spinto sopranos.

If you don't know what squillo is, again... RTFM

    3) Opera is not a kind of superior art. It's just an area of music.

Tarja sang opera even before joining NW, but since she did not want to dedicate her life singing the same 5-7 arias, she is not a professional opera singer and never will be.

  • @Antraxilon

...2) Tarja was classified TWICE by DOCTORS of music in fucking ACADEMIES. So maybe they know better.

That was some years ago, however.

At this moment Tarja is a 100% spinto soprano because

    - her range reaches from lowest dramatic register to middle coloratura, ranging almost 4 octaves (I am talking about live performances not other bullshit)

    - she has a deeper, more powerful voice and a darker timbre than lyric soprano

  • @Antraxilon

Retard, you should pick your fights about music theory with more care. Here we go:

    1) First of all, RTFM:

"Tarja Soile Susanna Turunen Cabuli (born August 17, 1977) is a Finnish singer-songwriter and composer. She is a full lyric soprano and has a vocal range of three octaves"

    2)

The difference between categories is made in range, tessitura (or texture), timbre, amplitude and transition points. There are others but those above are the main.
