This video is from my live performance on 26 February 2005 at a Houston, Texas venue. I am playing my original composition called "Gypsy Dreams" which is about that rebel soul, that bohemian spirit in each of us.

In this composition I attempt to fuse flamenco and blues (as if this were at all possible) with a symphonic rock twist. It's a long song (hence the "symphonic rock" label), but I can't help myself.

I recorded this using a home digital camcorder placed in the audience, so the sound is not so great. Also in the second half of the performance, my sound system received very loud interference for a few seconds, which I attribute to a cell phone signal. I tried real hard to ignore it and to continue playing like if nothing was happening.

Please, share, rate, comment and let me know what you think, especially if I was successful or not in achieving a flamenco-blues fusion of sorts (I don't think so, but I tried). I hope you enjoy it and thanks for watching and listening.

God bless,
- Robert

  • Absolutely AWESOME! :D I could only really hear the blues licks coming in after 6 mins but it sure does have a sweet-as flamenco blend. Even if it doesn't quite show everything you might have wanted it to from both styles, it sure does hit the bullseye when it comes to listening no matter what you call it! Just amazing!

  • I'm glad you liked it. Yes, it goes from flamenco to blues, more or less. I never intended to show comprehensive flamenco-blues techniques. I just wanted to transmit a gypsy-bluesman groove, which I believe every bohemian spirit of every guitarist has dreamed of being sometime in his life. Some have been lucky enough to have lived it. Thanks for watching and love your tunes.

  • hOLA im impressed with every new vid i see of yours beautiful playing and very nice guitar RoXOn brother

  • Thanks for watching and commenting, brother Steve

  • Hey Robert I really like the name of this song. Not only the name, but the song is exquisite. Your music is always pleasing to my ears. :) Have a good day.

  • Thank you Vally, my friend. I really enjoy playing it. Actually I try to mix flamenco with blues in this tune, if at all this were possible. I will make a new video with better audio of this song someday soon. God bless.-

  • Very cool!

  • excellent, man. You really know your stuff. I want to figure out music, but I just play the laptop. lol

  • Buddy Jean, that's typical at venues here in Houston. I just tune them out and play oblivious of the noise. Thanks for watching, my brother.

  • I hate this kind of video, because I have some desires of murder... LOL... Seriously, all this noising background, all this lack of respect for music, and for the musician...

When I played for my church, a "religious" silence was made. Nobody would have dare to make any noise!!!

    But here!!! What a shame!!!!
