Trailers only make the game look like a generic apocalyptic military shooter. The game is so much more than that. This game is easily one of the best of 2012.

Compared to games like Mass Effect, Metal Gear Solid, and this, the Modern Warfare characters are laughably bland. Soap could have been replaced with Gordon Freeman most of the time and you wouldn't be able to tell the difference. They tried way too hard to make Price seem like the ultimate badass. They made it seem like he knew everything about the generic bad guys, even though the only real experience he had with them was shooting off ones arm from 500 meters away.

the IDEA. They didn't try to be anything more than that with the Modern Warfare story. Why? Because it worked, it was popular, and already a story in development. The characters were nice, too. I was really sad when Soap died. Not even close to when we lost Dom in GOW3 with Mad World going and all that emotion of him sacrificing himself but I felt they developed the characters enough, specifically Price and Soap, that it was a significant moment when we did lose one of them. I can't vouch for any story by Treyarch. Not high quality stuff. But I'll admit, the Modern Warfare campaigns were enjoyable. I mean, I'm not saying they were brilliantly executed cinematic marvels such as Gears of War (disagree if you like, that was one of THE best campaigns I've ever played), Uncharted, Halo, or something of the like. But I legitimately enjoyed the trilogy. For what they are, they're entertaining, solid games, multiplayer issues aside. Sure, they were repetitive, but that was
