Samarkand Uzbekistan in 1982

A transfer of old film footage from a visit to Samarkand in 1982 (when it was a part of the Soviet Union). A part of the silk road, the city's history dates back to the 700 BC when it was a part of the Persian empire. It was taken by Alexander the Great in 329 BC, and it is especially noted for the Registan (a UNESCO site). Shot on Super 8 in August 1982.

Wow amazing Video, I like it. I was born in Samarkand City, people are very friendly and warm. I am proud of that i am tadjik. The Samarkand City the most oldest one than the other cities in Uzbekistan, and has a huge history. Only two cities was part of Persian Empire, its Samarkand and Bukhara. I wish one day both cities will be in Tadjikistan, cause they used to be there.
