CIVET RAIDING LEFTOVERS FROM MY DINNER! Was staying at Camp Corbett-close to Corbett Museum,Kaladhungi and 30kms from Corbett Park,India and managed to get these shots(and more)by setting up my Camcorder on tripod outside my room. It was late at night so rigged up a lamp outside next to a table on which were the plates and leftovers from my dinner. I then made sure there was a gap in the window curtains of my room so the LCD screen on my Camcorder was visible from inside .Using a remote I could then trigger the Video Camera and also see what I was filming by watching the LCD screen(just visible)from next to my bed and inside the room.I knew the Civet had arrived by the 'rattle' of the dishes and could then start videoing.

  • Fantastic. I have been triyng to record the wild genet with the scout guard, but not so succesfully like you.

  • Although am using my Scoutguard on most of my latest videos took this video using a Sony Nightshot camcorder triggered by a remote from inside the room. What also may work for the 'genet' is rigging up an outside light - animals should get used to it after a while - and this increases the picture quality and may even allow you to use a video camera ? Hope this helps...

  • i have an asian palm civet.. but wow! this one is so beautiful!! what country are u in?

  • Its a small Indian Civet - I'm British and was on an extended holiday in North India when I took video.

  • What sort of camera was it you used, please?

  • A Sony standard Digital Camcorder with remote control bought about 4 years ago for around UK Pounds 400 though an equivalent model would be much cheaper now.
