Now, with the latest update to V-Ray 2.0 you can render hair and fur with unprecedented control, quality, and speed using the new VRayHairMtl shader and VRayHairInfoTex map.
User can also seamlessly render hair created using Ephere's Ornatrix( http://www.ephere.com/plugins/autodesk/max/ornatrix/) plug-in with the new modifier - VRayOrnatrixMod.

  • When I saw the number of cores. I cried

  • excuse me...this too me is very disappointing. I have seen hair renderings with Arnold and Maxwell with outstanding realism in regard of translucent and shading. I have even seen better rendering with Mental Ray and Hair&Fur. This demo isn't significant at all. What matters in hair renderings is the light shining from the back through the hair. Backscatter etc. Also how does the render behave in animation. How does it behave when atmosphere effects such as fog are applied? What about Hairfarm?

  • You're doing demo of ornatrix...where's the Hair & Fur demo ?

  • @FulgorKLR Don't worry I have the same ;-). The creativity is the most important.

  • can all the functions you mentioned available for vray for maya 2012 as well?

  • 18 cores @_@

  • what about my 64 athlon x2 ? :(

  • Thats a joke?... Rendering with 3500 buckets? Hahahahaha this video Sucks!

  • hahaaa, m2 :(

  • that was slow even with 36 cores..... i wouldn't even bother doing that on my pc !!!

  • A rig like that would cost between 10,000 dollars and 15,000 dollars.

Depending on the Xeon CPU's in the node, and memory size.

  • 18 cores actually, 36 threads .

I guess they are using 2 workstations on distributed rendering.

1.a 6 core prossesor probably 990x- that would be pc1.

2.double 6 core Xeon processors on a single motherbourd - that would be pc2.

    That's my guess.
